Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Killer.

Both young individuals who died in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences online, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official reported to the Associated Press.

Police that raided the inn recovered two firearms and magazines when the suspect was arrested, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “She was famed for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she aided her club and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, companions, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his potential.”
